What makes Alpaca Fiber so special?

There are many great features of Alpaca Fiber and the finished products it goes into that make you feel so good!

Alpaca is naturally insulating. It is lighter, stronger, and warmer than wool because of its semi-hollow structure. Many synthetics have been created in labs to mimic the same characteristics that alpaca fiber produces naturally. The fiber's core traps air, making it lighter, but also a better insulator that other natural fibers on the market.

Alpaca is Hypoallergenic and Anti-Microbial. Unlike wool, alpaca does not contain the natural oil Lanolin. Many people who find wool scratchy and irritating to their skin are allergic to substances found in the Lanolin oil. Alpaca fiber has a smooth outer surface which makes it one of the finest and softest fibers to the touch. This smooth surface also prevents the products from trapping bacteria and other odor causing agents.

Alpaca is moisture wicking. The semi-hollow structure of alpaca fiber allows it to wick moisture away from the skin and to trap warmth. Alpaca garments are very warm, but allow the skin to breathe. Alpaca finished goods are wearable for many different seasons and occasions.
